A shortage of quality accommodation to cater for increased tourist demands in Barbados over the past few years has led to property price hikes and has made the rental market extremely attractive with high earnings achieved annually.
Barbados has an endearingly British atmosphere where cricket is the national sport and an intrinsic part of the island’s culture, but despite the British influence, it is a cosmopolitan country with a strong character of its own.
The Caribbean Island is full of natural charm and its colourful culture can be experienced through its food, music and friendliness of the locals.
Dave Ames Marketing Director of Harlequin Property said: “Although still associated with the rich and famous, Barbados is now more accessible to more people than at any other time in its history.
“Cheaper flights and increased routing have seen tourism increase at a dramatic rate. Whilst this is fantastic news for the island, they are struggling to cope with demand as there is a desperate shortage of premier accommodation.
“Property owners in Barbados are reaping the rewards and seeing both capital appreciation and inflated rental earnings as a result of the islands popularity.”
Harlequin Property is marketing Palmetto Bay, set within the Merricks Beach Resort on the eastern side of the island.
Palmetto Bay offers a selection of one bedroom ‘turnkey’ suites. Each suite has air conditioning bathroom, entertainment system with flat screen TV, internet access, stereo, safe and telephone.
The resort has several freshwater swimming pools, a fitness centre, sports academy and a water sports centre. Prices at Palmetto Bay start from £190,000 and there is a 10 percent rental guarantee for two years followed by a 50 percent room share rate for the subsequent five years.
