Easyjet is to start running new direct flights from London to Bodrum from 23 April. The new flights are to run three days per week - Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. These will then become the first direct flights from London to Bodrum.

The news follows the recent announcement that major airline Pegasus are to run new flights to from London to Bodrum via Istanbul.

Julian Walker a director of Turkish property specialist Spot Blue director said: “This is yet more good news for the property market in Bodrum. The announcement of new flights is good for the property market in any area, but perhaps more so in Bodrum's case, because the announcement will show potential investors that Bodrum is a growing tourism destination within Turkey.”

Visitor numbers to Turkey reached 23million for 2008, and are projected to reach 30 million for 2009. The new flights will give Fly-to-Let customers a greater choice of flights.

Walker added: “But perhaps the fact that the flights are to be run by low cost airline Easyjet is most beneficial to owners and potential buyers of Bodrum property because it gives British holiday makers access to short affordable flights.

This will increase occupancy on privately rented properties in Bodrum, thus upping rental yields and making Bodrum property more appealing to pure investors and holiday home investors.”

• Fly to Let owners with properties on the of Malta are to benefit from new flights to the Mediterranean island.

From April Easyjet is including direct flights from Newcastle twice a week and Ryanair has also announced two new twice weekly routes from Edinburgh and Bristol. Flights from Edinburgh start on 31 March and run every Tuesday and Saturday. Flights from Bristol will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays and will start on 5 July 5th.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is also launching a non stop route from Stockholm-Arlanda airport to Malta starting in April 2009.
