Fly to Let owners with properties in Austria have seen bookings rise by around 20 per cent this year.
The land of Mozart, Maria Von Trapp and Marie Antoinette has seen a rise in popularity in recent years but it is its capital Vienna which is proving the biggest hit as a holiday destination. Earlier this year Vienna was voted the city with the best quality of life. This has helped bookings rocket according to Domegos.co.uk which markets holiday homes around the world.
The rise brings the Austrian city into Domegos.co.uk’s top five most popular cities in Europe for holiday home rentals, alongside Rome, Berlin, Barcelona and Florence.
Dennis Klett, co-founder and director of Domegos.co.uk, said: “This proves that holidaymakers are constantly seeking the best break, both in terms of value for money and quality of the destination.”
Domegos has also seen an increase in bookings for more unusual holiday destinations, such as Tyrol in Austria and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in north-east Germany.
“While Italy, France and Spain are still popular, this increase indicates that more Brits are looking to visit somewhere unique and less-crowded than the usual holiday hotspots.
“We are actively seeking more properties in these areas and would encourage anyone with second homes to capitalise on this trend and consider letting their properties out”, said Klett.

He draws attention to the website ‘emportal; which reports tourism in Greece has declined just 7 percent in the first half of 2009, compared to declines of 12 percent in Spain and 22 percent in Portugal.
Robin Barrasford of overseas investment specialists Barrasford & Bird Worldwide has seen an increase in enquiries for their Halcyon Hills development on the Greek island of Samos.
