Gary Player, recognised as being one of the most successful international golfers of all time, recently visited The Marquis Estate in St Lucia, the Harlequin Hotels and Resort’s new 5 star flagship luxury spa resort currently being planned which will be home to a Gary Player Signature Championship Golf Course and the first Gary Player Hotel.
The prices for Harlequin’s Caribbean properties start from £125,000 and investors will receive a rental guarantee of 10 percent of the original purchase price for the first two years, paid from completion, followed by a 50 percent net room rate share ongoing as well as being able to occupy their property for 30 days during the year without charge.
Harlequin Hotels and Resorts, in conjunction with Gary Player, will officially launch the plans for The Marquis Estate this month with a golf day at The Grove Golf Club in Hertfordshire. The event, which is already over subscribed, will also allow guests to see a model outlining the entire development in its current planning.
The company is currently marketing its developments in Barbados, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Dominican Republic and St Lucia and is looking towards further development in emerging tourist markets including Brazil.
Some investors are now using Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) to fund their purchase, which opens up this investment to many whose pensions may have stalled during the current financial downturn to benefit from the potential high rewards of property ownership in the emerging markets of the Caribbean.
Gary Player is also a renowned golf course architect with over 300 design projects throughout the world. He is Chairman of Black Knight International, which includes Gary Player Design, the company responsible for managing his golf course design projects and Player Real Estate, which works with developers of new projects where a Gary Player-designed golf course is being designed to create high end golf resort and residential properties.
Player said: “This was my first visit to St Lucia and I was delighted with the natural beauty of the island and the friendliness of its people. This stunning location, a pedigree development and a championship golf course, will provide a solid foundation for what will become one of the Caribbean’s most treasured and sought after developments.”
Dave Ames, Chairman of Harlequin Hotels and Resorts said, “The signature golf course will undoubtedly become a big draw for future guests, but it is Gary’s ambition, shared with Harlequin’s, that this bespoke championship course may well be the beginning of something special as locals welcome the sport to the island. Who knows, it may even be instrumental in producing a new Tiger Woods! That would be the ultimate reward for all involved.”
